Siobhan McCann

Senior project manager, urban climate action and governance

Siobhan leads the implementation of IIED’s work on urban and climate programmes across Africa and Latin America.

Her work currently focuses on climate action for equitable cities and supporting the engagement of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in science policy and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change processes.

Siobhan also holds the role of network and implementation lead for IIED’s gender justice network, focused on advancing intersectional justice in research at IIED.

Expertise

Siobhan has over five years' experience leading the implementation of research projects related to intersectionality and community-led practice in cities internationally.

Her expertise includes urban climate action; community and civil society partnerships; translation and communication; and gender justice.

BA (Hons) modern languages and linguistics (French and Spanish), Newcastle University

Current work

Siobhan currently manages a portfolio of projects on climate action in informal settlements and advancing Indigenous and diverse knowledge systems in international climate reports. Siobhan also supports other programmes and projects within IIED's urban research team, focused on supporting equitable development in urban areas of low- and middle-income countries

Siobhan leads the implementation of IIED’s gender justice network and is a member of IIED’s internal race and racism working group.
