Locally-controlled forestry

How IIED supports just transitions towards locally-controlled forestry that safeguard biocultural heritage, enhance entrepreneurship and improve prosperity within diverse and resilient landscapes

IIED's forest team works with partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America to sustain forests and the prosperity of Indigenous Peoples, local communities and smallholder farmers who live in and around forests.

This includes work to strengthen locally controlled forest organisations, incubate their sustainable businesses, improve the resilience of their landscape management and shape more enabling forest governance arrangements.
