Proceedings of the 4th National Community Based Natural Resource Management Forum, 2019
In December 2019, the Tanzania Natural Resources Forum (TNRF) hosted the 4th National CBNRM Forum to discuss ways to involve communities in tackling illegal wildlife trade. The forum bought together over 50 participants from the government, NGOs, academia and community representatives, to provide a platform for information exchange and sharing experiences, and to agree on a way forward to ensure the success of CBNRM in Tanzania. Dialogue focused on challenges to changing community attitudes to wildlife, as well as what sort of solutions would be best placed to ensure that communities feel valued, involved, and most importantly, benefit from wildlife. This report summarises the proceedings.
