Nairobi has a subtropical highlands climate. It is located close to the eastern edge of the East African Rift Valley at an altitude of roughly 1800 metres above sea level which strongly influences its climate. Nairobi receives just over 610 mm of rainfall a year occurring primarily in two rainfall season.
