'This is now my path': evaluation and learning for the community-based adaptation conference
The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and its partners have been organising the International Conference on Community-based Adaptation to Climate Change (CBA) since 2005. Over the years, the conference has adapted to stakeholder needs as well as the broader climate adaptation sector.
To this end, in 2018, conference organisers developed a new theory of change to reflect a change of approach to the conference format and a desire for more active efforts to influence adaptation policy and discourse.
This evaluation illustrates how the approach led by IIED and partners had an overwhelmingly positive impact on the adaptation landscape. The findings demonstrate how CBA has shaped international processes, created practical tools for local action, and built bridges between local communities and the rest of the world.
