Towards education for nomads: community perspectives in Kenya

This booklet captures the voices and concerns of Kenyan pastoralists about education. It was produced as part of a broader action research programme that is guiding the Government of Kenya’s strategy for nomadic education. The purpose of the booklet is to share the views of pastoralists with education policy-makers and practitioners, particularly those in Kenya who are in a position to act on them. After a brief summary of the consultation process used to gather these views, the main part of the text summarises pastoralists’ thoughts about the current education system in Kenya and the ways in which it could adapt to better serve their needs.
A DVD to accompany the text can be found inside the back cover.
