Enhancing equity through the establishment of community based monitoring

Three parishes bordering Bwindi Impenetrable National Park were selected for community based monitoring of the implementation of Uganda’s 2012 revenue sharing guidelines for protected areas. Results reveal that the majority of the implementers and intended beneficiaries of the guidelines do not fully understand the new guidelines, and this creates disparities in the implementation of the policy.
