We are an independent policy research organisation based in the UK and active in five continents through an extended network of partners. And as a growing organisation, we are often on the lookout for professional and creative people with a passion for our mission. Find out more about IIED.
A seasoned policy and intersectional climate justice-related researcher is sought to join the Climate Change research group.
The postholder will work with diverse partners in knowledge co-production and social learning to undertake and provide robust research evidence to highlight gaps in equitable and just climate governance. Using decolonial approaches that embrace gender, racial and climate justice and intersectionality considerations, they will contribute to research on equitable partnerships for just adaptation and transition. The deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday, 6 February 2022.
IIED is also seeking a researcher specialising in low- and middle-income countries to join the Human Settlements research group and work on a project examining the potential of an urban response to long-term displacement. The project is assessing how cities can foster displaced people's self-reliance and local integration in ways that benefit host governments and communities.
The postholder will deliver a range of work regarding protracted displacement in cities, and comparative work on self-reliance and wellbeing in camps and urban areas. They will build an evidence base for national and local governments, humanitarian agencies and donors, and support municipal authorities, displaced people and organisations to use participatory planning to underpin development-based solutions to forced displacement.
This role may require travel to Kenya, Ethiopia and Jordan to take part in validation and dissemination activities with local research partners, COVID-19 restrictions and safety allowing. The deadline for applications is Friday, 18 February 2022.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all roles will initially be remote based.
