We are an independent policy research organisation based in the UK and active in five continents through an extended network of partners. And as a growing organisation, we are often on the lookout for professional and creative people with a passion for our mission. Find out more about IIED.

IIED is seeking a head of business development to implement and refine the institute's 2021/22 business development strategy. This focuses on increasing our funding by identifying new opportunities, maintaining our existing funding relationships, increasing the success of our competitive bidding and increasing the effectiveness of our internal business development and systems.

Additionally, the postholder will:

  • Take direct responsibility for negotiating and completing large-scale applications for funding
  • Gather and disseminate intelligence on the funding landscape
  • Work with research groups to develop their fundraising plans and donor scoping, and
  • Provide effective leadership and mentoring to the team

A working knowledge of French or Spanish, and/or other widely spoken languages (with a preference for those who are fully fluent in one of these languages), in addition to English, would be beneficial. The deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday, 24 October 2021.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all roles will initially be remote based.
