Treasurer
IIED is partnering with Nurole to seek a treasurer to join its board of trustees and chair IIED's finance, audit and risk assessment committee.
The ideal candidate would bring a professional accounting qualification, senior financial leadership experience and exposure to the third sector. They will be globally minded, committed to inclusion and development, and be able to support a high-performing, internationally-diverse board with a strong partnership mindset.
Core responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and providing constructive challenge regarding IIED's annual budgets, forecasts, financial performance, reserves, investments and financial sustainability, holding management to account through effective oversight and scrutiny
- Ensuring IIED maintains proper accounts, effective financial controls and risk management and assurance arrangements, and
- Overseeing the board's relationship with external and internal auditors and supporting the board in reviewing the annual statutory report and accounts.
Applicants will be able to engage confidently with issues of financial oversight, risk and governance at board level, and to build constructive relationships with fellow trustees and the executive team.
Familiarity with international organisations, complex funding environments or mission-driven work would be valuable, and the successful candidate will be aligned with IIED’s purpose as well as appreciate the contexts in which it operates.
The expected commitment of this role is around 20 days per year, including preparation for and attendance at all quarterly board meetings. Meetings are held in London or virtually, with flexibility for international candidates. The role is unremunerated but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
