Nathaniah’s work focuses on empowering communities to meaningfully engage and assert their rights within the arena of natural resource governance.

Expertise

Land tenure, land reform, natural resource disputes, legal empowerment, access to justice, women’s land rights.

Before IIED

Prior to joining IIED, Nathaniah worked as an Oxford policy fellow and embedded law and policy advisor to the Ethiopian Environment, Forest and Climate Change Commission. Before this she was a practising attorney with Lawyers for Human Rights in South Africa, where she focused on land reform, tenure and restitution issues, urban housing rights and community empowerment. Nathaniah also worked as a law clerk at the Constitutional Court of South Africa.
