Community Eco-Credit (CEC) is an innovative incentive-based model in which community groups manage and lend credit to members, contingent on completing ecological actions such as restoration, conservation and sustainable resource management.
It is increasingly being applied and adapted by organisations across diverse contexts, including fisheries, forestry, agriculture and protected areas, to advance climate resilience, improve wellbeing, conserve biodiversity and achieve other goals.
As part of the newly established community of practice on CEC, this webinar – co-hosted by IIED and Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery, University of Oxford – will bring together researchers, practitioners and community representatives working across terrestrial and coastal ecosystems to explore the evolution and future directions of CEC.
Speakers will share practical experiences, discuss implementation risks and safety considerations, and present preliminary findings from a case-control trial in Tanzania.
