Tara Shine

Tara Shine is an experienced policy adviser and climate negotiator, and has worked with several development organisations such as Irish Aid, Sida or the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice. She is also director and co-founder of Change by Degrees, a social enterprise that delivers sustainability advice.
Full biography

A specialist on climate change and the environment and development, Dr Shine has 20 years’ experience advising leaders, governments, multilateral agencies and civil society. An experienced policy adviser and climate negotiator, Dr Shine has worked with organisations including Irish Aid, the Irish government’s programme for overseas development; the Swedish Development Agency (Sida); the OECD; The Elders and the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice.

Tara is motivated by the need to create and realise a positive vision for the future, based on respect for rights, sustainability and equity. She is currently director and co-founder of the award-winning social enterprise Change by Degrees, which advises businesses, communities and organisations on sustainability.

Tara is a member of faculty of Homeward Bound, a global leadership programme for women in science. She is co-facilitator of the Structured Expert Dialogue (SED) of the 2nd Periodic Review under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. 

Tara is a science communicator and TV presenter and will present one of the 2020 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures. She is author of ‘How to Save Your Planet One Object At A Time’ published by Simon and Schuster.
