Matt Holt
Researcher, REDAA
Matt Holt is a researcher specialising in climate adaptation, resilience and nature restoration, with a focus on locally-led approaches that strengthen outcomes for people, nature and climate.
His work combines evidence generation, policy analysis, knowledge exchange and strategic partnerships.

Before IIED
Before joining IIED, Matt worked with the University of Edinburgh's forest and peatland programme, coordinating forestry and peatland restoration projects with interdisciplinary research approaches.
Prior to this, he was a peace advocacy fellow with the British Palestine Project, where he conducted environmental and climate-related analysis to support dialogue and peacebuilding initiatives.

Current work
Matt is a researcher with IIED’s Reversing Environmental Degradation in Africa and Asia (REDAA) programme.
He conducts research and programme analysis across REDAA’s research-to-action partnerships in 25 countries. He also facilitates the programme’s community of practice, convening researchers, practitioners and policymakers to share knowledge and exchange lessons that strengthen locally-led approaches.
Since joining IIED, he has supported the delivery of the LDC Initiative for Effective Adaptation and Resilience (LIFE-AR), coordinating strategic global engagements and partnerships to influence climate finance architecture and advance locally led adaptation and resilience.
