Carina Bachofen
Convenor (executive director), Green Economy Coalition
Carina has spent two decades at the interface of climate, development and humanitarian issues. She is skilled in designing and implementing organisational strategies and multi-stakeholder work programmes connecting global ambition to local action and policy to practice. She has led global teams, most recently as director a.i. of the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre.

Before IIED
Prior to joining IIED, Carina spent more than a decade as policy lead and in senior leadership positions at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre. She has also consulted for the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Current work
As convenor, Carina serves as the executive director of the Green Economy Coalition, leading the delivery of the GEC strategy to promote an inclusive green economy transition.
She provides strategic leadership, oversees programme delivery and fundraising, and manages monitoring, evaluation and learning, developing the GEC strategy in line with coalition priorities.
