Ponderous permit processes for renewable energy production

Obtaining green energy generation permits from local authorities across the world can take longer than it does to construct the plant in the first place. The glacial pace of permitting has been cited as one of the biggest barriers to the  EU’s 2030 renewables targets.

Prioritisation of renewable energy plants or a fast-track application process for renewable energy plants must be put into place to meet the climate change challenge as swiftly as possible. In many regions it can take longer to get a wind farm permit than it takes to actually build it.
