A chartered accountant with 12 years’ experience in the charity and not-for-profit sector in the UK and Malawi. 

Nicola is passionate about developing people and systems for continuous improvement. As a senior member of the Finance Team, she oversees IIED’s financial and regulatory controls. 

Nicola is also a board member and treasurer of Legal Response International, which provides free, high-quality legal support to poor and particularly climate-vulnerable developing countries and non-governmental organisations in relation to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNCCC) negotiations.

Current work

Providing operational leadership in finance, financial systems and controls to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of processes. Overseeing IIED’s financial and regulatory controls, with responsible for the integrity of the general ledger and leading the preparation of the financial statements, supervising the work of accounts payable and receivables, and managing the audit process.
