Reducing the data gap on the gender-climate-environment nexus
Active Project
Janine is a researcher specialising in the equity and justice dimensions of environmental governance. Her interests lie in examining who has power, who benefits, and whose voices are heard in processes that shape human–environment relationships, and how shifting these dynamics can create fairer, more resilient outcomes for people and ecosystems.
Her academic background and research interests give her the ability to work across disciplines, and she brings a diverse skillset spanning research, communications and grant management. She applies this breadth to bridge evidence, practice and policy, advancing more just, effective and locally led approaches to climate and nature action.

Education:
Janine works across the Reversing Environmental Degradation in Africa and Asia (REDAA) programme, supporting research-to-action partnerships in 25 countries. This involves facilitating the REDAA community, a network that brings together practitioners and researchers to share knowledge and collaborate on advancing locally led restoration.
She is also part of the nature nurture team, improving evidence and knowledge on how to upscale inclusive, resilient, agrobiodiverse production systems used by smallholders.
In addition, Janine contributes to work that is advancing gender-just climate and environmental action by promoting the use of accessible, intersectional data in decision-making.
