International Workshop on Practicing Payment for Environmental Services (PES) in Asia: Making PES economically feasible and pro-poor
Notice of an international workshop held 25-26 January 2007 in Lombok, Indonesia.
Workshop objectives
1. To analyze and share lessons learned from payment for environmental service programs in Asia with practitioners, policy makers and development agencies.
2. To examine experiences related to establishing viable PES programs that are also propoor, and the key factors contributing to viability and pro-poor outcomes.
3. To identify potential areas for future collaboration and action on PES in Asia.
Workshop outputs will include:
• Short summaries or policy briefs on cross-cutting issues (e.g. poverty reduction and PES, tenure and PES, the policy context for PES).
• Summary outlining key lessons and areas for future action for participants, intermediary/support organizations, and donors (document outlining key action areas and policy recommendations).
• CD compilation and web publication of proceedings and presentations.
