IIED's Governance group consists of the following:
Global Institutions looks at governance at local, national and global levels. Balancing efforts to achieve progress is central. This is explored in issues such as poverty eradication, ecosystem stability, stable livelihoods and openness and accountability in decision-making. Also includes work on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) - IIED is a member of MDG partnership and has launched a programme of collaborative research, networking and advocacy on the MDGs.
Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development (FIELD) provides advice and assistance to governments, inter-governmental and non-governmental organisations internationally. FIELD is a working subsidiary of IIED and works closely alongside on a range of research activity.
Strategies, Planning and Assessment (SPA) is concerned with integrated policy-making, planning and decision-making for sustainable development at national to local levels.
The issue of governance is integral and some examples of the type of cross-cutting work we do on governance can be seen throughout our research groups.
