IIED is looking for five trustees to join its board from November 2023.

We are seeking people with wide-ranging strategic experience who have ideally fulfilled a trustee role in a not-for-profit organisation previously.

The ideal candidates will have a very good understanding of IIED’s area of business, will be able to clearly articulate our mission and values, and demonstrate how they can contribute towards steering the organisation through the challenges ahead.

We are looking for five trustees who have experience of working with or an interest in international environment and development, and have expertise in these areas:

  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Decolonisation
  • Organisational change
  • Digital transformation
  • Private sector engagement, impact investment and trade
  • Urban and human settlements, and
  • Health.

Trustees need to have a clear understanding and interest in the mission, values and substance of IIED’s work; extensive experience in strategy and management; understanding of the context within which international NGOs and think tanks operate; and strong collaboration skills, taking account of the diversity and different cultures of board members.

Trustees will be required to dedicate a minimum of eight days per year to the role, including attending a two-day meeting in the UK twice a year in June and December.

These are unpaid positions for an initial three-year term, commencing November 2023.
