Xiaoting has a research background in a variety of areas of sustainable development from industrial ecology and supply chain management to climate change and forests. In between her studies, she held various positions with local government environment protection agencies, NGOs and business consulting companies in China, which built the foundation for her later work on multi-stakeholder engagement - primarily in the forest sector at The Forests Dialogue. Between 2009 and 2014 her work focused on REDD+, agriculture drivers of deforestation, investing in locally controlled forestry, and Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC).
