Cynthia Brenda Awuor works as an advisor on community-based adaptation to Climate Change for CARE's Adaptation Learning Programme in Africa. Her areas of interest are climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation in Africa. Cynthia works primarily with the Climate Change research group at IIED.

Cynthia Brenda Awuor works as an advisor on community-based adaptation to Climate Change for CARE's Adaptation Learning Programme in Africa. Her areas of interest are climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation in Africa.

She is part of a team that assembled CARE's toolkits on climate change adaptation. Cynthia conducts training on integration of climate change adaptation into development projects, and on the development of community-based adaptation projects among CARE country teams in east and west Africa. She is also engaged in advocacy on climate change adaptation at national to international levels, and is a member of the Kenya Climate Change Working Group.

Cynthia previously worked as a research associate for the Stockholm Environment Institute and as a research fellow for climate change in the Energy and Water Security Programme at the African Centre for Technology Studies. She was previously the East Africa fellow of the Capacity Strengthening of Least Developed Countries for Climate Change. She holds a Master of Philosophy degree in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree from Kenyatta University.
