The online CBA15 conference brings together practitioners, grassroots representatives, local and national government planners, policymakers and donors working at all levels and scales to discuss how we can drive ambition for a climate-resilient future

We are inviting the global development community to participate in a Twitter chat about driving locally led adaptation forward. The online conversation will cover topics related to the themes at the 15th International Conference on Community-based Adaptation to Climate Change (CBA15): climate finance, innovation for adaptation, responsive policy, nature-based solutions and youth inclusion.

CBA15 is the only conference that focuses on locally led adaptation, putting the people most vulnerable to climate change at the centre of the conversation. This year, this pivotal event in the climate adaptation calendar will take place online from 14-18 June, with an innovative programme focused on learning, networking and creative dialogue.

This Twitter discussion will take place one week before the start of CBA15, which will again take place online this year. CBA15 is funded by the Climate Justice Resilience Fund, Irish Aid and IIED, and organised with co-hosts the Global Resilience Partnership, CAREPractical Action and ICCCAD, in collaboration with the contributing partners Green Africa Youth Organisation, BRAC, the Huariou CommissionIUCN NL, African Centre for Trade and DevelopmentGIZ and VSO.

The Twitter chat will be hosted by IIED and will use the hashtag #CBA15.

Share, comment and get involved

To join the Twitter chat, follow @IIED and #CBA15 from 8am BST throughout the day on 9 June.

Twitter chats are designed to stimulate international dialogue and debate around important issues.

Chat questions

To kickstart the conversation, starting at 8am on 9 June we will tweet out a series of key questions throughout the day and invite responses.

The questions will be:

  • What changes need to happen at all stages in the flow of climate finance to make it more accessible to the people that need it most?
  • How can innovation for adaptation happen in a way that is inclusive and transformative?
  • What is needed to make sure young people have more agency in decision making on climate adaptation?
  • How can nature-based solutions be used to build sustainable food systems?
  • What are the most effective routes to ensuring adaptation policies are inclusive of local people’s priorities?
