Global Initiative on Community-Based Adaptation (GICBA)
The Global Initiative on Community-Based Adaptation (GICBA) initiative was launched by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) in 2010 to allow collaboration between organisations and individuals working on community-based adaptation to climate change.

A growing interest in community-based adaptation (CBA) to climate change in developing countries resulted in a significant and growing number of actions on the ground by NGOs and research organisations. Many of these institutions have been exploring the possibilities of linking efforts in order to achieve more synergy around CBA.
As part of this collective thinking, the Global Initiative on Community-Based Adaptation (GICBA) was developed to enable sharing and synergies between efforts by all organisations (and individuals) working on community-based adaptation to climate change.
The GICBA platform was launched by IIED in 2010, and reinvigorated in 2015 on the WeADAPT website.
The network was originally formed as a result of the international conferences on community-based adaptation organised by IIED in collaboration with a number of partners.
Get involved
By signing up to the forum using WeADAPT, you can upload case studies, stories and articles and publish them on the platform to access a wider audience. You can also communicate and engage with other individuals and professionals working in areas involving community-based adaptation.
