CBA12 Twitter chat

News, 25 May 2018
Join IIED and Practical Action for a Twitter chat on 1 June 2018 to discuss how to scale up local climate action.

The Twitter chat will use the hashtag #CBA12

IIED and partners are inviting researchers, practitioners and policymakers to participate in a Twitter chat about community based adaptation (CBA). The online conversation will cover topics such as how to identify the most promising adaptation mechanisms, how to ensure women’s representation and how to engage with policy makers.

The discussion will take place ten days before the start of the international CBA12 event in Malawi. CBA12 is being organised by IIED in partnership with the Climate Justice Resilience Fund, GIZ, the Global Resilience Partnership, the International Development Research CentreIrish Aid and Practical Action.

The Twitter chat will be hosted by Practical Action and will use the hashtag #CBA12

Share, comment and get involved

To join the Twitter chat, follow #CBA12 from 14:00-15:00 BST on 1 June 2018

Twitter chats are designed to stimulate international dialogue and debate around important issues.

Chat questions

To kickstart the conversation, Practical Action will tweet out a series of key questions and invite responses. The questions will be tweeted from Practical Action’s Twitter account, @PracticalAction

The questions will be:

  1. What are the most promising mechanisms for climate adaptation – that can reach real scale, are far sighted and socially just?
  2. How does grassroots women’s representation in local, national and international decision making support gender transformative climate action?
  3. How do you capture experiences of locally-driven climate action in ways that influence policy
  4. Do the policy makers you know want to know about local climate adaptation progress?
  5. How can technologies be used to enable or enhance the ability of communities to adapt to climate change?
