The 10th international conference on Community-Based Adaptation to Climate Change (CBA10) takes place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 21-28 April 2016. This page provides general travel advice. After registering, you will get a full schedule of events, and detailed information on travel, the venue, accommodation, health and safety and further information.

Arrival dates

If you are attending the field visit you should arrive in Dhaka on (or before) 21 April 2016 and ensure you have arranged accommodation. We will arrange your field accommodation on the nights of 21, 22 and 23 April 2016. You are responsible for your accommodation throughout the conference.

If attending the conference only you should arrive in Dhaka on (or before) 24 April 2016 and ensure you have arranged accommodation for the duration of the conference. You will receive a full detailed schedule once registered.

Accommodation

A number of hotels have agreed to hold rooms until the end of March so that CBA10 delegates can book with ease and receive significant discounts on room rates. Once you have registered we will send you the hotel contact details so that you can book and arrange your free transfer from the airport.

Transportation

All local partner hotels will provide a free shuttle service from the airport if you provide your flight details upon booking. We will also provide a free shuttle service from these hotels to the venue each morning, and returning again each evening. Once registered you will receive further details.

Visas

Participants from most countries will be eligible for a 30-day visa on arrival at Dhaka Shahjalal International airport. However, you are advised to apply in advance to avoid long waiting times at the airport.

Full details concerning visa information and a list of those countries whose nationals can gain instant visas on arrival are available at Visit Bangladesh. Participants should contact cbaconference@iied.org well in advance of the conference to report any difficulties.

Poster exhibition

CBA conferences feature a popular exhbition of posters describing research projects. These posters can be a great way to share your work. The posters need to be submitted by email and approved before the exhibition. The submission deadline is 15 March.

The CBA10 poster submission guidelines (PDF) set out the full details. If your poster is accepted for the exhibition, you will be asked to present for roughly two minutes about your poster content during a plenary session.

Contact

If you have any questions about the conference or registration, email cbaconference@iied.org.
