In this booklet, IIED has brought together a group of leading conservation and development organisations to share their insights and experiences on the links between the MDGs and conservation. This will be the first-ever forum for the sharing of information, analysis and mutual learning between key stakeholders, from a range of backgrounds, on conservation-poverty linkages. IIED staff will also participate in various Global Synthesis Workshops covering issues such as law enforcement and governance of natural resources, sustainable products, ensuring equity in ecosystem service markets and linking conservation and poverty. The Ring, a global alliance of research and policy organizations of which IIED is a member, will host an International Workshop entitled “Contribution of the Poor in Poverty Reduction and conservation: good policies from good practices.” This event will focus on the increasingly important topic of balancing biodiversity conservation with sustainable livelihoods and to share relevant experience from a variety of contexts.
