Partners

We have core partners in Ghana (the Centre for Public Interest Law or CEPIL), Mali (Research Group on Applied Law and Sociology or GERSDA), Mozambique (Centro Terra Viva or CTV) and Senegal (Innovation, Environment and Development Africa - IED Afrique).

Legal Tools collaborators have also included institutions in these countries (such as the University of Ghana Law Faculty), as well as in other nations such as Tanzania. International partners include the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO).

CEPIL Logo

The Centre for Public Interest Law (CEPIL) is a rights based non-governmental not for profit organization established in 1999. CEPIL's objectives are to Increase accountability of public decision makers; obtain and/or improve access to justice; enhance the quality of public decision making; research into public interest law and publication of research findings.

 

GERSDA logo Le Groupe d’Etude et de Recherche en Sociologie et Droit Appliqué (GERSDA) works on issues of land, natural resources, water and environmental management. It addresses these issues through applied legal and sociological research and the provision of legal advice and legal education. It also addresses issues of decentralisation, public policy and management of public services.

CTV logoCentro Terra Viva (CTV) is a public interest environmental law organisation. It works for the study of and advocacy for the environment, investigating and intervening in environmental issues and bringing together professionals of different disciplines to work towards the sustainable management of the environment and natural resources. Its objectives are to promote participatory environmental governance rooted in science, justice and law.

IED logoIED afrique | Innovations Environnement Développement works on issues of sustainable development and citizenship in Africa with emphasis on participatory methodologies. Its work is based on the belief that the development of Africa requires the capacity building of the most vulnerable and the establishment of equitable relationships between stakeholders to enable effective participation and representation of a wide range of actors. IED Afrique works to strengthen the capacity of vulnerable groups, documenting local practices and information policies.
