CDCF Toolkit launched at the Africa Carbon Forum, Nairobi
The Community Development Carbon Fund Toolkit was launched at the Africa Carbon Forum, 3rd-5th March 2010.
The toolkit was developed to enable different stakeholders to better understand carbon finance and how it can be linked into community development projects.
Many issues were raised by participants including:-
Whether there was a direct relationship between community benefits and the size of emission reductions generated in a project.
If technologies highlighted in the toolkit, and currently being applied in other continents, could be adapted to the African context.
The reality of private sector involvement in small-scale projects that the CDCF focus on, alongside the financial feasibility in high-risk remote areas
How popular the household level energy units were that are demonstrated in the toolkit. (Participants from South Africa highlighted huge demand for small solar and biodigester units in the country.)
What the potential for using the toolkit is for building the capacity of organizations in the development field who are already working on promoting some of the energy technologies in the toolkit.
To find out more and to download the toolkit please visit the project page.
Presentations from the workshop are also available.
