Conservation, communities and equity

Enhancing equity and community voice in nature conservation policy and practice

Nature and the biodiversity that underpins it is being degraded at unprecedented rates. Conservation efforts are critical to protecting biodiversity. But many conservation interventions have negative social impacts on the people that live close to nature.

IIED and partners are helping build capacity to understand and implement equitable conservation and to enhance community voice in national and international conservation policymaking.
