A Programme for Capacity Strengthening
CREED was established in April 1993, as a joint initiative of the IIED and the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM), Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. Initial support for CREED was provided by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Directorate General for Development Cooperation (DGIS).
Information about CREED Projects
Objectives
The objective of CREED is to strengthen capacity in environmental economics research and policy analysis, through:
- Long-term partnerships based on collaborative projects between researchers in the North and South
- The exchange of information and experience through publications, meetings, networking and training
- Wide and effective dissemination of research results and recommendations to policy makers and other stakeholder groups
Themes
CREED research projects focus on the following themes:
- International trade and the environment
- Macroeconomy and the environment
- Optimal use of resources: valuation
- Optimal use of resources: incentives
- Poverty-environment linkages
Collaborating Institutions
Current and recent collaborators on CREED research projects.
Publications
The CREED Working Paper Series provides a new channel to disseminate the results of research projects, as well as other articles relevant to CREED themes. The series is especially intended to provide an outlet for researchers in developing countries.
The CREED Steering Committee
This comprises representatives from IIED, IVM, research institutions in developing countries and an independent Chair. It is responsible for the overall management and co-ordination of CREED. Current members of the Steering Committee include:
