Natural Resource Abundance and Underdevelopment

Dates/Duration: April 2002 to March 2004

Project purpose: To examine the so-called “winners curse”, namely the observation that countries with a greater endowment of natural resources tend to have worse economic performance than other countries with relatively low resource endowments.

Forest Sector Trade policy and Sustainable Forest Management

Dates/Duration: 2001 to March 2003

Project purpose: to analyse the impacts of forest products trade on sustainable forest management, taking into account the full environmental costs and social impacts. The project aimed to provide information and analysis of the relation between trade and the environment in order to assist policy makers formulate forestry and trade policies that encourage sustainable forest management.
