Introduction
The Sustainable Markets Group has created a new Briefing series to support our work on direct investment and sustainable development. The first publications in the series are designed to inform citizen groups and NGOs about sustainable development issues raised by legal arrangements for the protection of foreign investment.
The goal of the Briefings, written by IIED’s Senior Researcher Lorenzo Cotula, is to provide accessible but accurate information for human rights, development and environmental organisations working on issues raised by foreign investment in low- and middle-income countries.
