Theme: Land rights and tenure Facilitating lesson learning and informed policy debate In May 2006, IIED convened a meeting on “Securing Land Rights in Africa – Documenting Innovation and Learning Lessons from Experience”. In May 2006, IIED supported the organisation of the international symposium “At the frontier of land issues: Social Embeddedness of Rights and Public Policy”, spearheaded by our French partners IRD, IAMM and GRET. In March 2006, IIED contributed an Issue Paper for the International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development, organised by FAO and by the government of Brazil. In November 2004, IIED, together with NRI and the Royal African Society, organised the conference Land in Africa: Market Asset or Secure Livelihood?
