Wildlife tourism
IIED and its partners have pioneered the concept of pro-poor tourism. We recently worked with Conservation International and UNEP to examine the overlap between tourism, biodiversity and poverty reduction. We also reviewed community participation in wildlife tourism, and further work is planned on pro-poor wildlife tourism, particularly focussing on the comparative advantage of Africa in this sector.
