The COPs have also been drawing an increasing number of participants from the development community who in the past have engaged little with the climate change issue. At COP8 in Delhi, India, COP9 in Milan, Italy, IIED together with partners from the Regional and International Networking Group (RING) held a full day side event called ‘Adaptation Day at COP’, each of which succeeded in bringing together over a hundred participants representing both the climate change and development communities. Additional funds were raised developing country participation in these events. Building on past successes, the event at COP10 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, expanded into a two day event called "Development and Adaptation Days at COP10". This was repeated in 2005 at COP11 in Montreal, Canada. The most recent event "Development and Adaptation Days at COP12" in Nairobi, Kenya, on 11 and 12 November 2006 was attended by over 400 people.
